My 2021 Word of the Year: Wisdom
One of my favorite stories in the Bible comes from 1 Kings 3. In this particular Bible story, God appeared to Solomon in a dream and told him to ask for whatever he wanted God to give him. Instead of asking for great wealth, fame, or honor, Solomon asked for wisdom. God granted him his request. What a wise request? I've come to learn that wisdom is a priceless commodity. With wisdom comes spiritual clarity and savvy. Wisdom brings many blessings: health, wealth, favor, excellent, insight, knowledge, understanding, and many other powerful characteristics. Wisdom is the principal thing. Proverbs 4:7.
My word for this year is wisdom. I've prayed for divine wisdom in every area of my life. With all the changes and challenges taking place in our world, I know I need divine wisdom to navigate life through these seasons. How will I focus on wisdom this year? I plan to seek God daily by spending time in prayer and the Bible, and I will also seek Him before I make any decisions.
Gaining wisdom and becoming wise is a character-building endeavor. I'm excited to see how I evolve as I grow in wisdom in my words, actions and attitude.
