My Engagement Party
Hi Lovelies,
I know it's been awhile. I've been super busy with work, wedding planning and life. With our wedding quickly approaching, I'll be sharing a few posts catching you up with wedding planning and events. Stay tuned and enjoy this post about our engagement party!
My fiancé and I hosted our engagement party at Hyacinth’s Haven in Harlem back in January. My sister and one of my best friends flew in from Florida to go wedding dress shopping with me (oh yea, I said yes to the dress!) the timing couldn’t have been better, because shortly after dress shopping we hosted our party and I loved that my sister and BFF could attend the party!
My Outfit
I knew I wanted to wear something simple but sophisticated and since I’m drawn to dresses and blouses that highlight the shoulders, I opted for this one-arm pencil dress from ASOS. I loved the classic cut of the dress and the trendy one-arm detail. I paired my dress with pink heels for contrast and pizazz.
Finding a Location.
We both knew that we wanted to have the party in Manhattan because it was the most central location for our guests. I found the chic and cozy gem that is Hyacinth's Haven on Yelp (what would anyone of us do without Yelp?) I loved that the owner was a fellow Jamaican and that the food at the party would pay homage to our Caribbean culture. The owner, Hyacinth was incredibly easy to work with and responsive. We also loved that we found an affordable location, which is akin to finding a needle in a haystack in NYC.
Guests
We decided on a small intimate gathering of very close family and friends. It was a great way to bring our families and friends together to thank them for supporting our relationship and celebrate our upcoming union.
