Although I don't necessarily love frigid winter weather, I love Fall and Winter fashion, especially in New York, a city that I believe encourages and celebrates individual style expression. In the colder months, I love to express my personal style through layering, I can have fun with different textures, colors, and patterns, which is exactly what I did with this look. The outfit is a recent find from Zara. They are having an amaaaazing sale right now, check it out if you can. Since I'm getting a lot more intentional with my purchases, I bought the blouse because it was fun and feminine and easy to pair with a pencil skirt or jeans.
During the winter months, the key to a chic look comes by from accessorizing our winter outfit. Boots, scarves, hats and coats pull a look together. Since most of the time, my outfits are covered under a coat, accessories are key to expressing my style in the colder months. As a result. I always choose accessories I love, after all it's usually the only part of my look that most people see.
When I'm out and about busy running errands I like to look casual and chic, which can mean anything from an easy maxi dress with flats or jeans, a cute top and and sneakers/flats. I got the cropped boyfriend jeans in the photos below at the recent Zara summer sale. Honestly, I wasn't sure the boyfriend jeans would be flattering on me. I wrote them off without trying the style, thinking the style was wrong for my body type.
My goal while packing to my trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands include one aim: pack cute and casual outfits. I wanted easy breezy outfits, but I did not want to overlook style for comfort. I wanted both! As I packed, I focused on a few key things that would ensure that I would be comfortable AND stylish on my Caribbean vacation. Below are a few of the things I packed and a few outfits I wore.
I love the romantic look and feel of lace dresses.
A few weeks ago I got highlights. I love color and with summer approaching at the time, I wanted a lighter color. I chose highlights after being inspired by a photo that popped up in my Instagram feed. As a relaxed head, I did not take it lightly that I wanted to add another chemical process to my strands. Double-processed relaxed hair needs a lot of tender loving care, or else you risk breakage. I did my research and below I'm sharing how I'm caring for my double-processed relaxed hair.
The little black dress is a wardrobe staple every woman should own. I like having one for evry season and love this silk lace trimmed dress by Madewell that I'm wearing in the photos below. It's both flattering and form-fitting and is versatile enough to wear with heels or with a light jacket and flats
The video features two outfits, one for work and one for play. Enjoy!
1. Doing it Afraid. Courage means acting despite your fears. Fear can cripple you and hold you back. Freedom exists on the other side of fear, and acting in spite of fears, proves that you can overcome fear. You will never regret refusing to let fear cripple you from living a fulfilling life.
There are some outfits I wear that just does "it"for me. They up the ante a little bit and make me feel that I'm living up to my style potential. Ha! I feel this way about the look that I'm wearing below.
Everyday we make conscious and subconscious judgements about people based on external factors such as appearance, our brains are biologically wired to do so. As difficult as it is to admit or as shallow as it sounds, it is true. Appearance matters. Studies show that those who are considered physically attractive reap a number of unmerited benefits. Another study showed that women who wore makeup to work appeared more competent to others.
